The Alternative Dairy Co has announced a new partnership with Soul Origin

The Alternative Dairy Co has announced a new partnership with Soul Origin as the franchises’ primary dairy-free milk supplier across all 115 stores in Australia.

This is the first major café partnership for The Alternative Dairy Co after first entering the café scene in 2018. All Soul Origin stores across the country will be using The Alternative Dairy Co’s high-performance oat, soy and almond milks in coffees.

The Alternative Dairy Co enjoys the backing of Sanitarium Health Food Company who first introduced Australians to plant milks in the 1980s. According to Steve Beams, Sanitarium Health Food Company General Manager Sales, the partnership caps off a great year for the Australian owned and made brand.

We are extremely excited to be partnering with Soul Origin as their primary plant milk supplier. The Alternative Dairy Co has had a strong start to the financial year, with this growth giving us confidence that the brand has the right mix of ingredients for long-term success.

There’s a whole lot of science behind getting plant milks right for coffee and we take great pride in how our plant milks taste and perform in coffee. We have had excellent feedback from both baristas and coffee lovers about how delicious the range is – the positive word-of-mouth is starting to pay off,” said Mr Beams.

Chief Operating Officer at Soul Origin, Adam Neill, said Soul Origin prides itself on delivering excellence in quality, flavour and service, all elements that played into the decision to partner with The Alternative Dairy Co. According to Mr Neill, the franchise has seen demand for plant milks grow in recent years.

“Across our stores demand for dairy-free milk has surged in the last 2-3 years, we estimate about a third of customers now ask for dairy-free milks. We expect this demand to continue to grow in the coming years.

“At Soul Origin we hold a strong belief that every cup of coffee should be of high quality. Our coffee beans are roasted locally in Melbourne and we have great relationships with farmers around the world to make sure we are serving a fully traceable coffee.

“With any partnership we embark on, product quality is paramount. The partnership with The Alternative Dairy Co has been great, not only because of the high-quality plant milk range, but also the fact it is Australian made and owned.

“So far everyone has loved The Alternative Dairy Co plant milks. The taste is great, our baristas are finding them very user-friendly and customers are really excited about the new products. The sustainability piece is also key for us,” said Mr Neill.

The Alternative Dairy Co, which manufactures its plant milks on the New South Wales Central Coast, sources Australian almonds from the Murray-Darling region. The Alternative Dairy Co uses Australian oats too.

“Using Australian ingredients is a win-win because we’re getting the best quality raw ingredients while supporting Australian agriculture,” said Mr Beams.

The Alternative Dairy Co also benefits from Sanitarium’s expertise in food science and manufacturing.

Sanitarium food technologists and leading baristas have together perfected plant-milk products that boast superior creaminess, flavour and ability to texture, or ‘stretch’ as is the barista terminology. Our manufacturing know-how and robust quality assurance systems also ensures these dairy free barista milks are reliably of the highest standard,” said Mr Beams.
